January 23rd 2010 :" The first time I surfed here was about 46 years ago " - A true Nelson local: Kevin Burgess "The Lowdown" Good morning folks and I hope you all got wet over the last couple of days. A couple of days of medium size 2-4ft swell keeping us sane although the wind and tide didnt want to play. Surprisingly Friday being the pick of the two days with a good left-over ground swell,glassy conditions and low crowds rewarding the lucky few.

So, could this signal the start of a new weather pattern? It seems as though something is in the making with recollections back to the late 90's El-Nino systems it was Autumn and early Winter that saw frequent strong Northerly systems and lots of Cable Bay action. Where do I get this stuff you may ask?? Aha well thats another story within itself. Adding fuel to this potential Weather change is Ken Ring's classic Almanac "weather by the moon" predicting lots of cyclones late this summer. Anyhow, without further delay here are some vicious rumours circulating and some untold truths.

"Rumour Mill": Who is the local surfer who's not too shabby at balancing on a surfboard but when it comes to walking on roofs at heights suddenly grows two left feet and increasingly paranoid??>>>>>Which female surfer doesnt mind snaking a few of the local lads just because she can get away with it cos' shes a girl!!!??>>>>>Who are the two local boys who would rather talk about how crap the surf is without actually paddling out to prove their theory!!!??>>>>>Who Is the Dunedin implant that Txts up all his other Dunno's and Cawthron mates to let em know the surf is on?!?!? >>>>>>Who is the Trainee Pilot who decided to paddle a Kayak out at 3ft Snappers just out of pure frustration with the crowd....??? The Truth Is Out There.
